Nokia at Sixes and Sevens Over N8


Nokia is at sixes and sevens over its new flagship smartphone, the N8.Having categorically told the media earlier this week “we have decided to hold the shipments for a few weeks to do some final amends”–read our overage here–the Finnish mobile phone giant is desperately rowing back after a deluge of negative press.“There have been [some stories] about the N8 availability which we feel need clarification,” says a terse post on the company’s official blog.It adds that “we still expect to start the shipments by the end of the third quarter” and continues:“As it can take time from the beginning of shipment to arriving at their doorstep, in full transparency, we have advised our pre-order customers that they should expect their new Nokia N8 in October.”Despite the post, no one seems any the wiser.A stream of replies from Nokia’s most ardent fans makes for grim reading, painting a picture of confusion and anger.“C’mon Nokia, be honest with customers!!” writes ‘Salem874’. “Where do we stand? Confusion and things like this only worsens your (already damaged) reputation.
